When n=3, this is much harder to vizualize. By definition, S3 = {(x,y,z,t) in R4: x2+y2+z2+t2=1}. Thinking of t as time, I've drawn the level surfaces, which fit together as S3. Thinking of concentric spheres in R3, but imagining the radii getting smaller as you go out, you can vizualize the sphere at infinity as a single point.
