Local Information

Workshop Location

The workshop will be held at Texas Christian University (TCU), which is located in Fort Worth, TX. Participants will be housed on campus in Carter Hall. Official check-in time is 4:00-8:00 PM on June 24; if you arrive outside that time window, you can call the on-call number at 817-257-7773 (dial 7773 from campus phones). All talks will take place in Tucker Technology Center, Room 138. Breaks will be in Tucker, Room 300. Here is a campus map with these locations marked.

Transportation

The most convenient large airport is DFW International Airport, though it is also not unreasonable to fly into Dallas Love Field, which is just a bit further away. From the airports, the best ways to campus are probably either by rental car or by Super Shuttle. We might also be able to provide some rides - stay tuned for future announcements.

For those driving, parking passes should not be necessary during the summer.

Parking

Over the summer, daytime parking is allowed without permit in any of the lots designated as for Faculty, Staff, or Students and that are not marked as Reserved. Overnight parking should be done in Lot 3 or in the lot behind Campus Police. Here is a campus map with these locations marked.

Food and Drink

Los Vaqueros is a decent sit-down Mexican restaurant
Fuzzy's Tacos is a good, more casual Mexican restaurant
Cafe Brazil has a diverse menu and is open late
Dutch's is a good campus burger place
Pizza Snob is probably the best of the pizza places right near campus - it's a "make your own" kind of place.
Einstein's Bagels and Potbellies are both decent chain sandwich places
McAllister's Deli is also not bad for salads and sandwiches (though it's no real New York deli)

Blue Bonnet Circle
- Mellow Mushroom: good pizza
- Fred's: great burgers
- The Bottom: a decent pub
Hulen Street Shopping Center
- Red Hot and Blue: decent chain barbecue
- Charlestons: up-scale American
- Joe's Pizza and Pasta: New Jersey-style pizza/Italian
North of Campus
- Park Hill Cafe: a small cafe, great for breakfast
- Tommy's: great burgers, awesome homemade potato chips
- Sera: fine American
Further north of campus up University Drive
- Blue Mesa: good nuevo Mexican and bar, excellent happy hour. This is a standard Math Department go-to.

Recommended evening itineraries:

Thursday night: go up to Joe T. Garcias for iconic Tex-Mex on the North Side at 2201 N Commerce Street, then head for a drink at Billy Bob's Texas, "the world's largest honkey tonk", at 2520 Rodeo Plaza. These are both likely to be harder to get into on Friday night.
Friday night: go see downtown Fort Worth. There are many nice restaurants, then check out Sundance Square or take in the Fort Worth Water Gardens (closes at sundown).
