CLASS WEBPAGE:  http://faculty.tcu.edu/prokhor/topics.htm contains syllabus and current homework assignments.

TEXTBOOK: Xanedu Coursepack for Math 10033 available from TCU bookstore.

TOPICS: The Mathematics of Money (Chapter 3), Probability (Chapter 4), Paths and Networks (Chapter 6).

CALCULATORS:  You will need a calculator that has logarithm, exponential, and factorial function keys.  TI-83 is the recommended calculator.

GRADING POLICY: Grades for the course will be based upon three (3) exams during the semester and on quizzes as follows

               Exam 1 (Wednesday, June 10)                                                      30%

Exam 2 (Monday, June 22)                                                         30%

               Exam 3 (Thursday, July 2)                                                                  30%

               Quizzes                                                                                                            10%

(Note: All of the exams will be given during a class period, bring your calculators)

QUIZZES AND HOMEWORK: Quizzes will be given on most class days. Quizzes cannot be made up except in cases of official absence, however, one lowest quiz score will be dropped. Homework will be assigned on most days that the class meets but not collected or graded. You need to do homework regularly in order to perform well on quizzes and tests.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance will be taken in the beginning of class each day.

If you have "perfect" attendance (= 0 or 1 absences), 3% will be added to your final average. If you are absent for reasons of health and present a doctor's note, then such an absence will be excused. The only other absences that will be excused are official TCU trips or business. You need to inform me about all absences in advance. The attendance policy is strict for very practical reasons. Numerous additional topics, examples, and problems will be presented in class, which supplement the text. Therefore, reading the textbook along will not be sufficient. Please be prepared to take class notes.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: If you are eligible for academic adjustments, you need to contact the Coordinator for Students with Disabilities (X7486) and find out how to proceed. This should be done as soon as possible. Without a letter from her office, I can make no special allowances.
