My office is in Tucker Technology Center 314.  My regular office hours are:

 

                              Monday                 9:30 – 10:00 and 1:00 – 2:00

                              Wednesday           9:30 – 10:00 and 1:00 – 2:00

                              Friday                    9:30 – 10:00 and 1:00 – 2:00

Course Grade:

Your course grade will be based on homework, 3 class exams, and a comprehensive final exam weighted as follows:

 

                                             Homework               10%

                                             3 Class Exams          20% each

                                             Final Exam               30%

 

In the event that your final exam grade is better than the average of your class exam grades, it will instead count 60% of your grade and the 3 class exams will count 10% each.  This system can only help your grade.  The grading scale for all exams and the homework is as follows:

 

A = 92 and above                 A- = 90 – 91.9

B+ = 88 – 89.9                    B = 82 – 87.9              B- = 80 – 81.9

C+ = 78 – 79.9                    C = 72 – 77.9              C- = 70 – 71.9

D+ = 68 – 69.9                    D = 62 – 67.9              D- = 60 – 61.9

F = 59.9 and below

 

The class exams will be given on the following dates

 

                                                         February 13

                                                         March 27

                                                         April 24

 

The final exam is scheduled on Monday, May 4, 8:00 – 10:30 am.

Homework will be assigned on most class days and is normally due at the next class meeting.  Homework must be turned in on time except in the case of an excused absence.

You are expected to attend class regularly.  Please note that the last day to voluntarily withdraw from class is March 18.

 

Text and Calculator:

The text for this course is Mathematics with Applications, Custom Edition for Texas Christian University, by Lial, Hungerford, and Holcomb.  We will cover chapters 11 through 13 in this course.

You will also need a graphing calculator (like TI-83, TI-84, but any brand is okay). The TI-89, TI-92 and other CAS calculators are not permitted.  You should bring your calculator with you to class and tests.
